How
many members do you have?
We have
about 80 members, and new people are calling and joining monthly.
What
kind of members do you have?
Our club
consists of men and women. Ages range from 20's to 70's. We have at
least one attorney, at least one realtor, and at least one person who
has funds to loan. We have members with a wide variety of occupations.
How
many attend a meeting?
Anwywhere
from 50 to 60 people.
What
happens if you get more attendees than can be seated at the meetings?
We will
make other arrangements for a larger meeting room. All members would
be advised in advance of any change.
Do
you have any mailings to members?
Yes. Each
month a newsletter is emailed to each paid member. The newsletter is
particularly important because:
- it
describes the next speaker and his/her subject
- it
contains any changes in plans
- it
contains news of legal matters that might affect members
Why
don't we have a meeting in December?
Some years
ago we decided to have a party in December. Instead of a meeting we
have a Christmas party.
Do
you have to own real estate to join the group?
No, you
only have to have an interest in real estate and the necessary dollars
to cover the membership fee.

Is
REIMW a corporation?
No. It is
a group of individuals who have an interest in real estate investing.
How
is REIMW structured? Who does what?
REIMW has
a Board of Directors consisting of elected officers from the club. The
officers receive no compensation for their work. They are volunteers.
We do have others who help as volunteers but have no titles. We have a
President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Librarian and a Web
site developer.
How
long do your meetings last?
We start
at 7PM. They continue until about 9PM or 9:30PM.
What
happens at a meeting?
Usually
there is time for networking, so bring your business cards. Then the
president makes a variety of announcements and other members may
present information. The speaker for the evening is usually introduced
by 8PM. The speakers present their topics and answer questions until
about 9PM or 9:30PM.
Is
there time to talk to the speaker after the meeting?
Usually,
there is time.
Do
out of town speakers come to your meetings?
Yes.
What
subjects do your out of town speakers talk about?
Last year
we had at least 3 from other parts of the country. One spoke of the
opportunities of buying properties that have gone through the Federal
Government foreclosure process and are available for a very limited
time at attractive prices. Another spoke of a franchise opportunity.
In
what kind of investments are your members involved?
Some of
our members are involved with buying foreclosures, financial paper,
homes needing fixup, and etc. Some are interested in buying homes or
vacant land at tax sales.
